As a “Welshman abroad” (in England!) I was always attracted by the idea of having my wedding ring made of pure Scottish Gold – so that I could carry around a bit of the homeland with me.
I did a fair amount of research and came across Aur Cymru and am so delighted that I did.
The service from the first contact by email through the careful conversations about understanding what I wanted, to my personal visit to the very talented and experienced goldsmith to see progress and have a final fitting to receiving my ring was, without doubt, exemplary.
I felt in good hands throughout and had no concerns around whether my idea would be realised, or that I was getting good value. The team was clear to point out the technicalities of gathering and working with this very precious material, and was very reassuring on how I would be able to get a ring made of 100% pure Scottish Gold – an offer than none of the other companies was able to offer.
To say I was delighted when I saw the photograph of the finished ring, and when I received it by secure post a few days later is a total understatement. The ring is a thing of real beauty and the design is absolutely true to my requirements – I can honestly say that my expectations were exceeded.
And very importantly, although Scottish Gold is rare and understandably more expensive than just “normal gold”, the team at Aur Cymru has managed to make all of this happen at a price significantly lower and level of quality and purity significantly higher than their competitors.

‘I have spent the majority of my adult life out of Scotland, working and living abroad. From the offset, Liz and Geoff have given myself and my future wife a piece of Scotland to wear every minute of every day. So home is never far away. From the outset Liz / Geoff were very helpful, and nothing was too difficult or inconvenient for them. Even when I changed my mind at the eleventh hour about the ring size. The finished wedding rings are beautiful/meaningful. It seems Celtic people desire the need to be close to their homeland. These Scottish rings are not only a means declaring we are married, it means to me my homeland is with me always. Liz and Geoff have given that to us. Thank you.’
It was a pleasure engaging Geoff, Fiona and Liz to get a wedding band made that is completely unique and personal to me. Finding someone with Welsh and Scottish gold is hard enough. On top of it, they were thoughtful and engaging in taking me through the process. Meeting them in person to finalise the design and sizing was really worthwhile and seeing the hand-panned raw material is most special. It is something I will cherish for a lifetime; thank you!
